Mandalore

Mandalore lies in the Outer Rim and gave its name to the entire Mandalorian culture. A significant part of its surface consists of white glass wastelands — the mark of ancient wars — so the population is concentrated in domed cities, the largest of which was the capital, Sundari.

By the era of the Clone Wars the planet was ruled by the New Mandalorians, who had renounced warrior traditions and proclaimed neutrality. They were opposed by Death Watch, and then power on the planet was seized by Maul, who relied on criminal syndicates. In the final months of the war the Republic conducted the Siege of Mandalore to drive his forces out of the capital.

After the establishment of the Empire the planet was devastated, and its inhabitants were scattered across the galaxy. The Darksaber remained the Mandalorians' symbol of the right to rule.
