Din Djarin atones in the Living Waters of Mandalore

9 ABYExact dateLast checked: 23 October 2026

Din Djarin descends into the mines of Mandalore and immerses himself in the Living Waters to regain his status as a Mandalorian, and Bo-Katan Kryze rescues him from the depths.

Description

Under the Mandalorian code, a warrior who removed his helmet was considered an apostate, and he could regain his standing only by bathing in the Living Waters beneath the mines of Mandalore. The Watch held the rite to be unattainable, believing that the mines had collapsed during the Great Purge; in fact underground tremors had only pushed the waters deeper. Din Djarin traveled to the scorched planet to obtain proof that he had performed the ablution and to have his sentence of exile lifted. The descent into the mines beneath the Civic Center of Sundari led him to a ritual chamber with an ancient tablet in Mando'a telling of the time of the first Mandalore. Having immersed himself in the water, Djarin lost consciousness and was pulled out by Bo-Katan Kryze, who, being of the royal line, had undergone the rite herself. Paz Vizsla doubted his account, citing the collapse of the mines, but the Armorer recognized the proof presented as genuine. The exile was lifted, and Djarin never learned of the mythosaur his rescuer had seen.
