Description
A small military movement created by Leia Organa when the New Republic Senate refused to regard the First Order as a serious threat. Formally independent of the Republic authorities, it received their unofficial support.
Its base of operations was on the planet D'Qar, and its forces consisted mainly of starfighter squadrons and a small fleet; among its commanders were Poe Dameron and Admiral Ackbar. Resistance intelligence searched for traces of the missing Luke Skywalker.
Resistance forces destroyed Starkiller Base, but the pursuit that followed nearly wiped out the movement: after the retreat from D'Qar and the losses at Crait, only a handful of fighters survived. Later, Leia's call and the news of the return of the Sith gathered a fleet of volunteers from many worlds to the Resistance, which decided the outcome of the battle over Exegol.
