Battle of Starkiller Base

The Resistance began the assault with twelve starfighters and one light freighter against a garrison, interceptor squadrons, and planetary turbolasers. The plan, laid out by Poe Dameron, consisted of three steps: take down the shield, breach the thermal oscillator, and destroy the main weapon before it finished charging. The Millennium Falcon passed through the shield at lightspeed and landed near a cliff. Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Finn captured Captain Phasma and forced her to disable the defenses, after which they planted charges. The squadrons' first run at the oscillator produced no result: ten minutes before the weapon was fully charged, the Resistance had lost half its fighters, among the dead Ello Asty and Sarah Bel-Sun. The detonation of the explosives, set off by Chewbacca, opened a breach, into which Dameron's strike went. The planet's core lost stability, and the base perished along with Ilum. Kylo Ren and General Armitage Hux managed to leave the world; Rey, who had discovered her Force sensitivity, left together with the survivors.
