Capture of Takodana

Maz Kanata's castle on Takodana served as a free haven for smugglers and wanderers, unaffiliated with any of the warring sides. Its neutrality ended when fugitives arrived there with an astromech droid whose memory held a fragment of the map to a missing Jedi Master; word of this reached the First Order. The attack was carried out by the forces of Kylo Ren's division: starfighters and troop transports crushed the resistance, the castle was destroyed, many of its inhabitants were killed, and Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Finn were forced to surrender. Kylo Ren himself went into the forest, where he found Rey, deflected her shots, and disarmed her, recognizing her as Force-sensitive. The arrival of Resistance squadrons turned the tide of the battle, and the commander ordered his troops to withdraw, considering the mission accomplished. The capture of Rey, however, did not give the First Order the information it sought, and the droid with the map fell into the hands of the enemy.
