New Jedi Order

An order restored by Luke Skywalker after the fall of the Empire. Training was conducted at the academy on Yavin 4, and the Order was headed by a Grand Master.

The New Order abandoned some of the former strictures: its members could marry and start families, and training was also open to adults who were found already grown. The Order acted together with the New Republic but retained independence in its own affairs.

The gravest test was the war with the Yuuzhan Vong, in which the Order suffered heavy losses and the academy on Yavin 4 was lost. After the war it was replaced by a new academy on Ossus. Later the Order became part of the Jedi Coalition, created by Luke Skywalker in the Second Galactic Civil War.
