Galactic Federation of Free Alliances

A federal republic, also known as the Federal Galactic Republic, and more often simply as the Galactic Alliance. It took shape on the basis of the New Republic during its decline in the war against the Yuuzhan Vong.

The Alliance united most of the known galaxy and became the first state since the Galactic Empire to achieve such reach. Its supporter and defender was Luke Skywalker, who regarded a peaceful Alliance as the mainstay of peace throughout the galaxy.

Between 40 and 41 ABY the name New Order was briefly applied to the state; the rest of the time it was called the Old Order. After the restoration of the empire in the form of the Fel realm, the Alliance and the Empire coexisted in relative peace for decades until the Sith–Imperial War began.
