Confederacy of Independent Systems

A union of worlds and corporations that seceded from the Galactic Republic and fought it in the Clone Wars. The movement was publicly led by Count Dooku, behind whom stood Darth Sidious, who was directing both sides of the conflict.

The Confederacy included the Trade Federation, the Techno Union, the Commerce Guild, the Corporate Alliance, and the InterGalactic Banking Clan. Their contributions made it possible to create an enormous army of battle droids and a vast fleet, commanded by General Grievous; political affairs were handled by the Separatist Council.

The war raged across the galaxy and devastated many worlds. After the deaths of Dooku and Grievous, the Confederacy's leadership took refuge on Mustafar, where it was wiped out by Darth Vader. The same order shut down the droid army, and the union collapsed, while its remaining resistance was finished off by Imperial forces.
