Liberation of Ryloth

After the failure of the first attack on the orbital blockade line, the Republic needed a different solution: as long as the blockade held, it was impossible to deliver troops and supplies to the surface of Ryloth, and the situation of the population continued to worsen. Anakin Skywalker returned to the blockade line in a Star Destroyer and offered Mar Tuuk a false surrender in exchange for letting a humanitarian shipment through. By the time the ruse was discovered, it was too late: the ship rammed the Separatist flagship, and a flight led by Ahsoka Tano that arrived finished off the remaining frigates. The open corridor allowed Generals Obi-Wan Kenobi and Mace Windu to begin landing troops. The ground campaign was waged jointly with the forces of Cham Syndulla, who knew the terrain and had been fighting the occupiers for years. The combination of regular forces and guerrilla operations made it possible to drive the droid troops out of the cities and lift the siege. Ryloth remained part of the Republic, but the invasion and blockade left the planet devastated for a long time.
