Foerost

Foerost is a Core planet in the system of the same name, located on the Koros Trunk Line between Kuar and Kaikielius. It gained galaxy-wide fame from the Foerost Shipyards in high orbit, one of the oldest and largest shipbuilding complexes of the Galactic Republic. The shipyards' engineers mined raw materials on the planet itself and transported them to orbit; at the same time, for most of its history Foerost remained practically uninhabited, although by the time of the Clone Wars the city of Hadzhibar existed on it.

Originally the planet was a vassal colony of Kaikielius, but by 11,000 BBY it had gained full membership in the Republic. In the Tionese War, Foerost housed the headquarters of the Republic fleet, and the shipyards themselves were the largest in the state. During the Great Hyperspace War, the shipyards were caught up in the offensive of Naga Sadow's fleet.

In 3,996 BBY, during the Great Sith War, a combined Krath and Mandalorian fleet captured three hundred Republic warships at the shipyards for a strike against the capital, Coruscant. Several decades later, in 3,959 BBY, the Sith Darth Revan led a large Republic fleet away from here, which triggered the Jedi Civil War.

Millennia later, the Techno Union bought the shipyards from the Republic, and with the outbreak of the Clone Wars handed them over to the Separatists. The Republic responded with a blockade of Foerost, but Confederacy engineers managed to secretly build a fleet of Bulwark-class battleships that broke through the siege. After this fleet's defeat at Anaxes, the Republic eventually brought the planet back under its control.
