Capture of the Foerost shipyards

For centuries the Foerost shipyards had built ships for the Republic fleet from raw materials taken from the surface of an uninhabited planet. By 3,996 BBY, more than three hundred new or nearly completed warships were berthed there, lightly guarded. Ulic Qel-Droma planned to seize them for the Brotherhood of the Sith's war against the Republic and led his fleet, reinforced by the Crusaders of Mandalore the Indomitable, to Foerost. To approach undetected, the sorceress Aleema Keto created an illusion that turned the armada into a single large vessel called Gholtar's Sky, which requested permission to dock for repairs. When the controllers grew suspicious of the vessel's density, the illusion dissolved. Starfighters suppressed the defensive emplacements, Mandalorians on basilisk war droids seized the control posts, and Tetan fighters with jetpacks landed after them. Qel-Droma, Aleema Keto, and Mandalore occupied the control center and demanded the access codes to the new ships; the Sith killed the first person to refuse, after which the rest complied. Fleet captain Orli Vanicus arrived with reinforcements too late. A recording from the scene of the attack later revealed the identity of the Republic's new enemy.
