Kanan Jarrus

Caleb Dume was the Padawan of Master Depa Billaba and survived the execution of Order 66, after which he took the name Kanan Jarrus, hid his lightsaber, and for many years scraped by with odd jobs, concealing his connection to the Force. During the conflict on Gorse he grew close to Hera Syndulla and stayed aboard her ship, the Ghost, becoming one of the founders of the cell operating on Lothal.

After meeting the street urchin Ezra Bridger on Lothal, Jarrus took him on as his apprentice, even though he had not finished his own training and doubted his right to teach. He was willing to take risks for his student: learning that Master Luminara Unduli was being held in an Imperial prison on Stygeon Prime, he set out to free her, hoping to hand Bridger over to a fully trained teacher.

Jarrus reluctantly accepted military discipline when the crew became part of Phoenix Squadron and the rebel fleet. He was blinded in a clash with the Inquisitors but kept fighting, and he died rescuing Hera Syndulla on Lothal, holding back the explosion of a fuel depot so that his comrades could escape.
