Raid on the Imperial garrison at Aldhani

Aldhani is a sparsely populated world whose native inhabitants were driven off their ancestral lands by the Imperial authorities, leaving them only the right to gather once every few years for a rare celestial phenomenon. The planet hosted a garrison that operated a vault into which the payroll of an entire sector flowed. A small group, assembled by one of the organizers of the underground and including a hired outsider, prepared a raid under cover of the rare celestial phenomenon that distracted the garrison. The conspirators relied on the assistance of an Imperial officer disillusioned with his service, entered the guarded compound disguised as inspectors, and carried off the contents of the vault on a transport ship, using the glow in the sky as cover from pursuit. Some of the participants were killed, but the haul was taken away. The regime's response was disproportionate to the incident: the Empire tightened its criminal laws, lengthened sentences, and expanded the powers of its security service. These measures affected many people who had previously been indifferent to politics, and thereby swelled the ranks of the resistance.
