Siege of the Kaleth temple by the Despot Army

25,805 BBYExact dateLast checked: 23 October 2026

Hadiya's forces besieged the Je'daii temple of Kaleth, and both sides suffered enormous losses, including the deaths of Shae Koda's parents.

Description

The war was preceded by the rise of Hadiya, a charismatic Twi'lek from Shikaakwa who united the planet's Nine Houses and crime barons through persuasion and force and took the title of Kral, supreme ruler. Part of the aristocracy resisted her plan to subjugate the entire Tython system, and the Je'daii, seeing this as a threat, sided with the nobility. After a series of minor skirmishes in space and on the moons of Kalimahr, Hadiya hurled the secretly trained Despot Army against Tython. The surprise of the attack initially gave the attackers the advantage, but the Order quickly regrouped: Master Rajivari took command of the troops and earned the nickname the General, while Temple Master Telaat, head of the Je'daii Council, was killed and replaced by Ketu. The siege of Kaleth, the temple of Knowledge, became one of the bloodiest episodes of the war; battle droids and Deathstalker- and Deathblaster-class starfighters were used. The war was concluded outside the temple walls: in Hadiya's camp she was killed by the infiltrated Ranger Daegen Lok. Losses amounted to about one hundred thousand Tythans and ten times as many on the side of the Despot Army.
