Duel in the forest of Starkiller Base

Leaving the sabotaged base, Finn and Rey came out into a snow-covered forest, where Kylo Ren caught up with them. He was weakened: shortly before, Chewbacca had wounded him with a bowcaster, and killing his own father, Han Solo, had not strengthened him but broken something in him. Rey tried to shoot him but was hurled against a tree by the Force and lost consciousness. Finn picked up Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber and took up the fight. He managed to wound his opponent in the shoulder but was quickly overpowered: Ren pierced him with the crossguard blades of his hilt and slashed his back. Considering the fight over, he tried to pull the saber to him with the Force. The blade tore free of the snow but landed in the hand of Rey, who had regained consciousness. Ren at first held the advantage, drawing strength from rage, and even offered to teach her, but this only strengthened her resolve. She defeated him and slashed his face, while rejecting the inner temptation to finish him off. A fissure in the planetary crust separated the opponents.
