Jedi madness and the Valin Horn case
Jedi Knight Valin Horn fell into an inexplicable madness, was convicted and frozen in carbonite, which set off a campaign of persecution against the Order.
Description
Valin Horn was a Jedi Knight, the son of Corran Horn and Mirax Terrik Horn, named after his grandfather Valin Halcyon. He trained at Luke Skywalker's academy on Yavin 4, was distinguished by his connection with animals through the Force, and, like his father and grandfather, was weak in telekinesis. He survived the siege of the academy during the war with the Yuuzhan Vong and took part in the operation to destroy Centerpoint Station. In 43 ABY Horn suddenly fell into an inexplicable madness: it seemed to him that all his loved ones had been replaced by impostors. In this state he attacked his own parents, was subdued by them, and was brought to the Jedi Temple for examination. He became one of the first Jedi stricken by Force psychosis. The condemnation of Horn and his freezing in carbonite turned a private case into a pretext for a broad campaign against the Order. It was later discovered that the madness of the young Jedi was being caused remotely by the entity Abeloth, who was turning them into her uncontrollable instruments.
