Amilyn Holdo

A native of the planet Gatalenta, Holdo began her career in public service as a delegate to the Apprentice Legislature program. There she openly criticized the policies of the New Order and grew close to Princess Leia Organa, through whom she later became involved in the affairs of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. At first she worked in civil administration, but she proved herself as a military leader and received an officer's commission in the Alliance fleet.

Decades after the victory over the Empire, Organa called on her again, this time to join the Resistance. During the years of the cold war, Holdo served as a vice admiral and conducted covert operations, preparing the movement for open war. When the Resistance leadership suffered heavy losses in 34 ABY, she was left as the highest-ranking officer of the surviving forces.

Gathering her people aboard the star cruiser Raddus, Holdo declared that the Resistance's goal was to restore the New Republic. Her plan provoked discontent among some of the younger fighters, including Captain Poe Dameron, but she brought the fleet to the mineral world of Crait, where she intended to ferry her people on transports under a cloaking field.
