Chandrila

A Core planet, the homeworld of Mon Mothma, who represented her world in the Senate first of the Galactic Republic and then of the Galactic Empire. Ben Solo was also born here.

It is a small blue-green world with calm seas and gently rolling hills, with mild changes of seasons and rare hazardous weather phenomena. The capital is Hanna City, where the Chandrilan Senate building is located; also known are the Old Assembly House, Senate Plaza, the Mothma estate, the Silver Sea, and the settlement of Gennari Point not far from the capital.

The planet was among the worlds that Emperor Palpatine had marked for destruction by the second Death Star in order to suppress the rebellion through intimidation. After the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, Chandrila became the capital of the New Republic and the meeting place of the new Galactic Senate, in memory of the former Republic. It did not remain the permanent capital: the New Republic changed its capital world according to the results of elections.
