Description
Jedi Master Dooku and his Padawan Qui-Gon Jinn arrived by shuttle on the planet Wayyl to find the kidnapped son of Senator Dagonet. The village near which they landed greeted them with open hostility: the inhabitants slammed their doors and closed their shutters when the strangers appeared. The Jedi found the local cantina and went inside. Dooku asked a single question — where the senator's son was. An elderly woman, the village elder, volunteered to answer. The conversation quickly revealed that every one of the inhabitants without exception was involved in the kidnapping, and the elder herself confessed to the deed. The explanation she gave was direct: Dagonet's long service to the Republic had enriched him but ruined those he represented. It was this argument, and not resistance or the threat of weapons, that determined the further course of the matter: the elder led the Jedi to the barn where the young man was being held, and from that moment Master Dooku no longer viewed what was happening as an ordinary kidnapping.
