Revan enters the war

In 3,964 BBY, when skirmishes between the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders and the Republic were already under way in the Outer Rim, the Jedi Knight Revan began going from temple to temple, arguing for the necessity of the Order's intervention. At first he remained an almost lone voice, but the first to join him was his closest friend Alek, who helped recruit others. The movement became known as the Revanchists, or the Jedi Crusaders. Against the will of the High Council, the Revanchists set out to scout the borders, where Mandalorian and Republic fleets were fighting inconclusive battles. The following year Revan uncovered the Mandalorians' extermination of the Cathar people. The Council never gave its full support, but it reluctantly allowed the Revanchists to join the Republic military under the guise of a mercy corps. Under Revan and Malak, the Revanchists brought the Republic a series of victories, and in 3,962 BBY Supreme Chancellor Tol Cressa appointed Revan Supreme Commander. The war ended in 3,960 BBY with the battle at Malachor V, after which most of the surviving Revanchists turned to the dark side.
