Disaster at Deepspace Besh

c. 0 ABYApproximate dateLast checked: 23 October 2026

Subjected to Imperial conditioning, the Alliance mathematician Jorin Sol gave away the rebel fleet's retreat algorithms. Darth Vader's fleet, led by the Executor, launched a surprise attack on the rebels, heavily damaging the flagship and wounding Leia Organa. Coming to his senses, Sol persuaded the scout Tungo Li to send the ships into hyperspace at random, which saved the fleet at the cost of heavy losses.

Description

The Alliance mathematician Jorin Sol was captured by the Imperials and taken to Kalist VI, where he was interrogated and tortured for information about the location of the rebel fleet. He was later freed by a rebel team, and Sol returned to duty after passing a screening. No one knew that during his captivity he had been subjected to Imperial conditioning and turned into a weapon tasked with destroying the Rebellion from within — not even he himself, until the very end. Sol began to suffer episodes during which he carried out another's will, aware of what was happening but powerless to stop. Coming onto the bridge of the flagship, he opened fire on those present, wounding Leia Organa among others, and then transmitted data to the Imperials that allowed Darth Vader's fleet to catch the rebel force at Deepspace Besh. Coming to his senses, Sol warned the command of the enemy's approach and insisted on an immediate withdrawal. When the damaged flagship needed to make the jump, he manually activated the controls and ensured the ship's escape into hyperspace, dying in the ensuing explosion.
