Description

Hoggon was a human, a short man, a space drifter who owned his own starship. He was distinguished by a passionate fascination with the Jedi Order and its history: he collected accounts of the great events of the past, especially the Great Sith War, and sought to be personally present where history was being made. Hoggon's financial situation, however, was far from brilliant, and he readily took on odd jobs.

In 3,986 BBY he was hired by an unknown man who asked him to find a suitable place in the galaxy for seclusion. Hoggon showed his client the moon Yavin 4, the site of the decisive battle at the end of the Great Sith War, and the temple of Exar Kun, but the choice ultimately fell on Rhen Var, a planet going through an ice age and devoid of civilization. Only later did Hoggon realize who his passenger really was.

Having completed the job, he went to Exis Station to see with his own eyes the great Jedi gathering convened by Nomi Sunrider. There, watching the assembly from a ventilation shaft, he heard the participants' speeches, and upon departure he discovered on board the young Vima Sunrider, the Jedi Master's daughter, who was looking for a mentor. Hoggon's subsequent actions linked his name to the events surrounding the conflict between the Jedi and the exile.

Hoggon appears in the comics of the Tales of the Jedi series. His role in the events described was such that the space drifter's name made its way into historical writings: in 36 ABY he was mentioned by the New Republic historian Voren Na'al.
